Colours of Merdeka

In line with the spirit for the 50 years Merdeka celebration 2 months ago, the department that I am working in organised a contest based on 2 categories; best decoration and best slogan. The best decoration will receive cash reward of RM600 whilst the best slogan of RM400. What used to be an office floor with only yellow and grey coloured cubicles turned into a colourful "playground". You will get what I mean from the photos below.

Colleagues from different teams put in so much effort that some teams actually began their preparation 2 weeks before the judging day which was on the 30th August. As for my team, we wanted to do something simple which do not require a lot of effort..hahaha!! With intense competition from other teams coming up with creative decorations, my team just did our best knowing that we will not be the winner ;).

On the judging day itself, some colleagues came to work in traditional costumes so that they can earn the heart of the judgers for more points. Amongst interesting acts from other teams include singing the popular Sudirman's Merdeka song, reciting slogan in a choral speaking manner and mini sketch. I did not manage to see all of the teams acts though.

Some photos to feast your eyes..

My team's decoration. The hibiscus took my teamates about 3-4 hours to do.
Loads of work involved.

Office looking more like a playground

Left: Kolam of Malaysiaku Gemilang
Right: Hibiscus make of one cents. It's amazing.

This one is pretty unique. It's paper cut of people holding hands.

The winning decoration. I guess the judges chose this because of the diversity it represented.

The winning slogan "One team, one goal, unity brings Merdeka"
