Boys Over Flowers
I am quite swept away with this drama leaving me on cloud nine and wanting more. Wonder what will life be after Jan Di and Jun Pyo finally get together. Will Ji Hoo find someone else? Will Yi Jung and Ga Eul really be together after 5 years? With these questions in mind, will there be Boys Over Flowers (II)? =)
Boys Over Flowers a.k.a. Boys Before Flowers
Genre: Romance, Comedy
Casts (from left to right):
Kim Joon, Kim Bum, Lee Min-Ho, Koo Hye Sun, Kim Hyun-Joong

Since the Coffee Prince withdrawal syndrome two years back, I suffered another withdrawal syndrome. I just love this drama! The OSTs are great. I can't stop playing the songs and sometimes it just play in my mind. Hehe!
My favourite actor in the drama, Lee Min-Ho (Goo Jun Pyo).
A K-drama highly recommended. If you are interested, visit this link Boys Over Flowers. Please don't get addicted because I did! =p

Attic Cat
This is one K-drama I took so long to watch. Probably took me about half a year to complete watching the 16 episodes.
Attic Cat
Genre: Comedy, Romance
Korea casts: Jung Da Bin, Kim Rae Won
Rating: 6/10
Synopsis
Jung Eun (Jung Da Bin) is an old friend of Hye Ryun. Because Kyung Min (Kim Rae Won) is really desperate, he decided to take it upon himself to help Hye Ryun's poor friend. This is the beginning of an extremely volatile friendship that somehow ended with the two of them living together under one roof, to be more specific, living on top of the roof of an old building.
This romantic setting provides the backdrop of this unlikely love story. Kyung Min’s bratty ways clashes with Jung Eun’s simple living. He is steadily taking advantage of her kindness and good nature.
Personal comments
I've been highly recommended to watch the K-drama. Comparing to the rest of the K-dramas I've watched, this is the least interesting one. I didn't really like the lead actor's character in the drama. There are moments that I find Kyung Min annoying when he trys to act cute for forgiveness or whenever he wants to find a reason to move back to Jung Eun's house.
Jung Eun on the other hand does not deserve to love Kyung Min. She's always so forgiving and soft hearted. Guess it's the word 'LOVE' that conquers everything.

I found Treasure!!
WOooHOOO!! This is so GREAT!! It's as if I found another treasure. Of course the first one is my significant half =).
I found a site that provides a whole lot of K-dramas and movies OST for downloading. I'm so THRILLED! The best thing is that all the songs title are in English. It definitely makes reading the songs title a lot easier rather than the Korean words =(.

Personal comments
On a general, the drama was okay with a happy ending (sorry for the spoiler for those who have yet to watch). The story dragged a bit in the beginning and then really rushed at the end. It was kind of cute and sad, but very typical of other dramas in that it included that love triangle with two people loving the same person but on one side it's unrequited. Most of it was predictable like who was going to end up with whom and how each characters reaction would be having seen this or hearing that.
Nevertheless, the drama were casted by pretty actors and actresses..
And also captivating picturesques sceneries of Austria (Hallstat) and the islands in Korea (Chungsan-do).

I love the background musics too with combination on classical and melody. It was calming and enjoyable and fitted well with the fact that the main character was a pianist.
And here's a special line from the drama..
"If you truly love and miss that person, Then, love will come again when you meet that person again. Just like playing a game of hide and seek, No matter where he/she hides or even if you can't see him/her, He/she must be waiting at some place for you. Amid the countless chaos, Just like the sincere prayers of love. The people in love will surely meet again."- Park Eun-young (taken from episode 1 of Spring Waltz)

Overwhelm with..
..all the Korean dramas that are available at MySoju.com. I am currently watching Spring Waltz, the final installment of the four seasonal drama series, Endless Love (Korean TV Series) - following Autumn Tale, Winter Sonata and Summer Scent by Producer-Director Yun Suk Ho. Spring Waltz is my first installment of the four. I am thinking if I should watch the other three as well.
As the list grows longer on MySoju, I'll just have to choose what is best to watch. For K-drama addict friends, if you have any recommendations, do let me know =).

Seducing Mr.Perfect
Seducing Mr.Perfect
Genre: Comedy, Romance (Movie)
Korea casts: Daniel Henny, Uhm Jung-Hwa
Rating: 7.5/10
Synopsis
Min-Joon (Uhm Jung-hwa) is a believer in true love and always very dedicated to her current boyfriend. However, men always break up with her - her latest boyfriend ends their relationship on her birthday. Distracted by the latest break-up, she bumps into a car and a man steps out of it - who turns out to be her new boss, Robin Heiden (Daniel Henney). Heiden has very clear ideas about a relationship and love: both are a game of power and Min-Joon seeks advice from him, as she doesn't want to get dumped again.
Heiden, who has to deal with his own heartbreak, as he loved a woman so much that she had to shoot him to get the message across that she wasn't interested in him, starts to soften at Min-joon's attitude towards life. He eventually falls in love with her and both get into a real relationship and a happy ending of their own.
Personal comments
A worth watching movie on a Saturday night alone or with friends/love one. The main draw of the film is its hunky male star, half-Korean/half-American model Daniel Henney who plays the role of Robin, a young fund manager sent to Korea to take over a Japanese firm. Daniel's dialogue were delivered almost completely in English. However, his inability to show a facial expression beyond a smug smile or a frown takes away any sense of playfulness this character should have.
As for the leading actress, Uhm's is so natural with her role. Uhm compensates for Henney underplaying his role by overplaying hers and still managing to come out lovable.
I find the ending a bit abrupt though with Robin meeting Min-Joon's parents for the first time at the last part.
Nevertheless, one of the better K-movie I've watched so far..not that I've actually watched a LOT!! ;)

S Diary
Still gungho about Gong Yoo in Coffee Prince a month ago, I surfed the net to search for the Kdramas/movies acted by him. I had picked to watch 'S Diary' from the list of movies he was in.
On a rating from one to ten, I would rate the movie at 5.5/10. A 2004 romantic comedy film, the story is about about a girl Jini (by Kim Sun Ah) and memories of her first loves. In the movie, Jini goes through her past boyfriends and reflects on how they've given her memories when she got dumped by her boyfriend with the final note that he was only interested in "making out" to her but not in a lasting relationship.
This triggers the girl’s curiosity about whether her past three lovers were also only after her favors. As a result Jini checks back on her previous boyfriends including Ku-Hyeon (Lee Hyun-Woo), an advocate of strong religious beliefs, macho college lover Jeong-Seok (Kim Su-Ro) and inexperienced Yoo-In (Gong Yoo) who makes a living as carefree graffiti artist.
The turning point in the movie would be when her conscience advises her to try and get revenge on her loves until they've learned a lesson. Suddenly the movie takes a turn from cute romance love story to funny petty revenge. It's all in good fun though as most of the tactics she has are harmless and just cute.
Something to watch if you don't have much to do.. =)
K-dramas: What I noted so far..
Ever since Coffee Prince, I had watched a couple more Korean dramas; One Fine Day and My Lovely Sam Soon. I would not considered myself addicted to K-dramas but it is indeed entertaining to watch and also partly to fill up my weekend time =). I'll blog about One Fine Day and My Lovely Sam Soon later whilst 'My Favourite Cups' from Coffee Prince is still in draft =(. I will work hard on it in the next few days..
That aside, just wanted to share some common points I noted from the three dramas I had watched. Hopefully, these common points will be different from how I see it now when I venture more K-dramas. So friends, please recommend good ones if you know any.
Lets see what I have noted:
1) As common as the grains of sand on a sandy beach, all three have love story as its theme. Now this makes me wonder do most Korean dramas typically have romance as its genre. Anyhow, people like me still love to watch..haha!! What to do..GIRLS!!
2) Probably it is a coincidence but all the love relationships started at work place and the lead actors always happened to be the boss to the leading actresses. Wah!! Good leh..they get to see each other every day.
3) The leading actresses always have financial problems. Hence, they ended up working and later, fell in love for their bosses.
4) The guys like to raise their voice at the women. Come on..show lar some courtesy even if you are angry. No offence to the Korean guys yuh!! I know this is not the real Korean culture =).
5) Couples' siblings like to stick their nose into their relationships. Annoying to watch them at times.
6) Without fail, there's always love triangle or love square involved. 'A' likes 'B' but 'B' likes 'C'. Then 'C' likes 'A' and you have 'D' likes 'C'..complicated relationship.
7) When it comes to eating time, you get to see Sushi, Sashimi or Ramen being served. The Koreans seem to enjoy Japanese food a lot.
8) The couples always have fierce parents especially the mother. The actors/actresses probably need ear plugs when acting these sort of scenes..when being scolded by their "mother" ;) .
9) The guys always stay alone and in very nice studio apartments.
10) Irregardless male or female, they like to reveal their age. I understand that it's a norm for the Koreans to reveal their age so that they would know how to address the other party. It's a form of respect. You can call me 'Li Li unni' if you are younger than me or I will call you 'Noona' if you are younger.
11) They always travel to/from America for work or study purpose. America America America!! In 'One Fine Day', the first 2 episodes were filmed in Sydney though. Ahh..at least the Sydney Opera House and the Botanical Garden looks familiar to me.
12) Last but not least (hope I did not miss anything else), "What??, Why??" are the common words used. You really hear it a lot. I can also act out their facial expressions when saying it =).
Well..try to take note if the above are true when you watch K-Drama the next time. Ok..what's next on the list to watch now?? MY GIRL!!!

Coffee Prince withdrawal symptom
I finally finished watching the Coffee Prince (CP) drama a couple day back. Arghh!! The withdrawal symptom was pretty bad initially but as I am writing this, the feeling is much better.
The whole drama was amazing and I absolutely love it!! I enjoyed every single cup of the drama (cup = episode in CP). Despite not understanding the Korean language itself but with the help of the English subtitle, I am able to apprehend the drama. It has been quite some time since I have watched a drama which trully touches my heart so much. Whatsmore, it's a Korean drama and also my first time watching one.
Still disguised as a man, Eun Chan is happy as a clam working at Coffee Prince, developing a close friendship with Han Kyul and his musician cousin Han Sung (Lee Seon Gyun). But things get complicated when Eun Chan and a confused Han Kyul begin to fall for each other. How would Han Kyul accept his "homosexuality"? This side of him was drawn in a risky but fun way.

Gong Yoo as Choi Han Kyul. I didn't really like him initially but grew to like him more as I watched the drama. With his good looks coupled with the dressing brings out that reaction "Wow, that guy is so charming".Next post: My favourite cups

Coffee addict!!
HELP!!! I am a Coffee addict now!! No..no..not the drinkable one but I am so addicted to Coffee Prince, a Korean series which a colleague recently introduced me to. I was having lunch with my colleague last week when she gradually told me about this Korean series she is currently watching. After a brief synopsis, I told her to send me the link so I could watch it too.
To be honest, this is my first time watching a Korean series. Despite having friends who were so crazy watching Korean series and the local TV airing in the past years, never had I show any interest in watching one. Among the famous series I heard of previously were Stairway to Heaven and Winter Sonata. Ghee..these are the only one I can name off..pai seh pai seh.
Well..since I had nothing much to do last Saturday afternoon, I gave it a try to watch the first series. And guess what?? It was nice and I decided to continue watching. The rest was history..and I got glued to the seat ever since. The whole series consists of 17 series and I had already watched 5 episodes over the weekend. I am waiting for the downloading to complete now actually. Going to watch episode 8 soon..
Will blog more on the casts and synopsis.
