Bali (Day 4 - 27th July 2008) Part 1

Woke up early on a Sunday morning and became trigger happy again.

A view of the morning rays of sunlight through our room.

We got ready, had our breakfast before checking out about 9.30 am.

Headed to Ubud town again. Ubud is the famous centre of arts and the cultural heartland of Bali.

Upon arrival, there was a 'Upacara' (ceremony) going on. The Balinese were dressed up for the ceremony. The men were clad in sarongs while the ladies were in their traditional 'kebayas'.

We proceed to the Ubud market to do some shopping. Prices are cheaper here as compared to those in Kuta and Legian. Of course a little bargaining skill is required. I understand from Jo Anne and Tin Choo that if you are the first or last customer for the day, try to bargain as low as possible because you will likely get the price you wanted. It's more like 'luck' for the day to the sellers rather than no business to begin or end the day with.

Our highlight for the day was to eat 'babi guling' (roast suckling pig) at Ibu Oka, recommended by the Lonely Planet travel guide.

Priced at Rp25,000 per person, it tasted average only to me. Probably because I am not a BIG fan of pork.

Took this backlane alley photo behind Ibu Oka in sephia mode. Feel like the old time huh? =)

After an early lunch, we continued our journey to Lovina. Lovina is a coastal area on the northerneastern side of Bali. It took about 3 hours to reach the Nugraha Lovina Bay Resort. Set in a beach-side coconut grove at the long side of Lovina Bay, the scenery was beautiful. Very relaxing and resort feel. Per night room rate was SGD133.

Some beautiful sights of the hotel surroundings. Instead of the sandy white beaches, Lovina beaches are of black volcanic sand beaches.

How can I miss not being in the picture..hehe! This was taken at the entrance to the hotel lobby.

This is our room. Sorry about the legs.. ;p

Located on the ground floor, our room is well-appointed with an ocean view with verandah.
