Good old days

Last Sunday, Jo Anne and I gave a close friend of ours, Han San his birthday treat. This treat was way overdue as his birthday fell on the 27th March. Not that I did not want to treat him earlier but this friend of mine has his nights almost fully booked the whole week. Well, at least better late than never. Coincidentally, my better half younger brother's birthday happens to be on the same date.

Speaking of giving birthday treats to close friends, I can count with the fingers on one side of my hand now those who are still around in KL. Sad to say, most of my close friends are across the globe in Australia, England, NZ, China & Bahrain. They are either abroad to work, study, fulfill their PR resident's requirements or following their husband who is seconded abroad. Not to mention, even my better half is working in London himself. As Han San once said, what used to be a group of close friends that can make a pax of 10 at a dinner table has dwindled to less than 5 now.

I guess as we grow older, it is not suprising that friendship will slowly drift away. Whatsmore, when one have its own family, sustaining the friendship seems like a hard thing to do. Reminiscing back the good old times surely bring smiles to myself...as the saying goes.."Those were the good old days".
