Darn those burglars!!

I've heard it. I've read it. And now I've experienced it.

My parent's house was broken in yesterday. Estimated time was between 11 am to 12.30pm. No one was at home and I was the last one to leave the house around 9+ am to run some errands. I came back about 1.15pm and found something amiss.

First, the auto gate was slightly opened. I was 101% sure it was properly closed when I left. Next, the clothes hanger was positioned right in front of the main entrance. That's odd. I was very sure I pulled it out under the sun as I left. Ok..I thought probably one of my family members would have return between that four hours and pull it back in just in case if the rain starts to pour.

Before I could even open the front grill, I was shocked to see it was already opened. Oh mine! The house has been broken in. I called my parents immediately to return from work.

Sigh..we lost quite a number of valuable watches, a camera, some cash and a notebook. The most painful valuable item for me was the external hardisk which contain photos, songs, dramas and some other work matters. If and only if I still had it in my laptop bag. I was keeping it in the bag 2 days ago.

I've also lost my new notebook (less that 6months) which I intended to bring to the UK. I just got the RAM upgraded and installed the latest anti virus less than a week ago. ARGH!!!!!! I am laptop-less now =(

What I don't understand is that these burglars were so daring to break in at broad daylight. To top it up, they entered right from the front entrance..not from the back or the roof. My neighbour was in with their front door wide open all day long. Aren't they not afraid if my neighbour happened to step out while they were 'in action'? And there was a guard house less than 30m away. How did they do it?

They were pretty smart to use the clothes hanger which was full of clothes to cover them up while they worked hard to open our front grill and wooden door. We've added many locks for security purposes but they just manage to barge the front entrance open. Unfortunately, my neighbour claimed that they did not hear anything.

One lesson to learn is if there is no one at home, please don't let your clothes hanger full of clothes drying outside. It is such a good 'tool' for the burglars to cover themselves while 'in action'.

As the old chinese saying says "Por choi tong choi" (The wealth block the bad luck). So long as no one get hurts, it's ok.

OMG! I'm glad no one was at home!! The same thing happened to my parent's house 2 years ago.. and luckily no one was home as well. But my whole family was on holiday except for me, which I just got back from a business trip. Anyway, glad that only material things are gone.. it can always be replaced...

Take care & Happy Chinese New Year!
