Bali (Day 3 - 26th Jul 2008) Part 1

Our driver, Ketut was already at the hotel by 8.00 am for our journey of the day which include:

1) Celuk Village
2) Pura Besakih
3) Kintamani
4) Tegalalang
5) Ubud

On the way to Celuk Village, we stopped at a batik shop. Here, we had the opportunity to see the traditional methods of hand drawing batik. Of course, there is always a shop for batik purchases but we didn't buy any.

Celuk Village
Continuing on the road to Pura Besakih, we also stopped by at a silver smithing shop in Celuk Village, known for its silver and goldsmiths. Along way of Celuk Village about 2 km, one can find on the left and right side the various type of gold and silver shop. A large variety of all types of intricately designed pieces can be found. I got myself a pair of silver earrings for Rp170,000 (approximately RM62). It involved a lot of bargaining to get this price! =)

Pura Besakih (Mother Temple of Bali)
We reached the Pura Besakih entrance about noon and paid for the entrance tickets (Rp10,000 per person or approximately RM3.60).

Again, we paid Rp50,000 per person (approximately RM18) for an English speaking guide. Mind you..most tourist attraction places in Bali require not only an entrance fee but also for the CAR!

Took a 10 minutes walk up the slope to the Pura Besakih..and here we are, a view of Pura Besakih on the high slopes of Mt.Agung (literally means Holy Mountain). FYI, Mt.Agung is also the highest point in Bali.

A group photo with the Pura Besakih and Mt.Agung shrouded with clouds behind us.
We were brought around the temple area with the guide explaining the history and importance of the temple. However, his English wasn't so comprehensible to us and in the end, we were speaking Bahasa Malaysia.

The main temple of Besakih.

And of course, some photos of Li Li posing at the Besakih =)
