Coffee Prince withdrawal symptom

I finally finished watching the Coffee Prince (CP) drama a couple day back. Arghh!! The withdrawal symptom was pretty bad initially but as I am writing this, the feeling is much better.

The whole drama was amazing and I absolutely love it!! I enjoyed every single cup of the drama (cup = episode in CP). Despite not understanding the Korean language itself but with the help of the English subtitle, I am able to apprehend the drama. It has been quite some time since I have watched a drama which trully touches my heart so much. Whatsmore, it's a Korean drama and also my first time watching one.

How it touches me was the simple story that is heartwarming, funny and completely charming. CP is both a romantic comedy of errors and a sensitive urban drama about the dreams and confusions of young people. From cup 5 onwards, the drama left me with butterflies in the stomach wanting to know more what will happen next especially when feelings began to spark between Eun Chan and Han Kyul. Let's put it this way, the lead actor, Gong Yoo has also smitten me in a way. Hmmm..makes me feel like I am those young girl adoring an actor because of their good looks. But hey..what the heck..I am a girl!! And there's no rule that says you can't even at my age =).

Synopsis

Choi Han Kyul (Gong Yoo), a 29 years old rich, irresponsible, and hot-tempered can't figure out what he wants to do with his life, but he knows he's not interested in the family business or all the blind dates his grandmother keeps arranging. Go Eun Chan (Yoon Eun Hye) on the other hand is a 24 years old girl whose life is not easy as she has to give up her feminine image to help support the family with multiple jobs.

Mistaking the brash, boyish-looking Eun Chan for a guy, Han Kyul hires her to pose as his boyfriend and scare off his blind dates! Desperately in need of money, Eun Chan had no choice but to accept. At his grandmother's prodding, Han Kyul agrees to run a coffee shop for three months, and ends up hiring Eun Chan again, this time as a barista. In order to attract female customers, Coffee Prince only hires good looking guy.

Still disguised as a man, Eun Chan is happy as a clam working at Coffee Prince, developing a close friendship with Han Kyul and his musician cousin Han Sung (Lee Seon Gyun). But things get complicated when Eun Chan and a confused Han Kyul begin to fall for each other. How would Han Kyul accept his "homosexuality"? This side of him was drawn in a risky but fun way.

The story doesn’t concentrate on just these two people, but also on the other people who frequent Coffee Prince. These people are shown one by one in a natural way, and since the story isn’t just about romance but about the natural conflicts of all the characters.

Casts

Yoon Eun Hye (YEH) as Go Eun Chan. YEH pulled off her role as a tomboy pretending to be a man very successfully. She’s a lot of fun to watch. I read that YEH keenly observed how men act and talk and practiced mimicking them to play the role.
Left: YEH from the Coffee Prince
Right: YEH in real person

Gong Yoo as Choi Han Kyul. I didn't really like him initially but grew to like him more as I watched the drama. With his good looks coupled with the dressing brings out that reaction "Wow, that guy is so charming".
